SOME THINGS CLICK WHEN YOU SHARE THE ROOM
More than feedback. A chance to try it together.
01 / HEAR IT DIRECTLY
Your voice, in the room.
I can hear your unfiltered sound and observe how breath, posture, and movement connect to your singing. We can try an adjustment and explore its effect immediately.
02 / FOLLOW THE MUSIC
A pianist who follows you.
Live accompaniment gives us room to explore a phrase, change the pace, repeat a passage, and connect musical choices to the story you’re telling.
03 / MAKE IT PHYSICAL
Get out of your head.
Work with the space, your focus, and your physical choices. Practice being present with another person so the performance becomes more than getting the notes right.
STEP INSIDE
A personal space for focused work.
Coaching takes place at my Long Beach home studio. Bring the material you care about and give yourself room to experiment, ask questions, and work through the tricky parts.

FROM REHEARSAL TO RECORDING
Make your self-tape about the performance.
Prepare and record your audition material in the studio with coaching along the way. We can work through the song or scene, clarify your choices, and take them into the recording.
Prepare. Record. Review.
Bring the audition brief, your material, and the deadline. We’ll plan the session around what you need to prepare and capture, then review takes together to identify what’s communicating.
Ask about studio self-tapes when you request your free session. We’ll confirm the setup, time needed, any editing or file delivery, and pricing before you book.
THE SETUP SHOULD SERVE YOUR WORK
Tools that support the performance.
Live piano accompaniment is available for in-person coaching. For a self-tape, tell me what the audition requires so we can confirm the recording setup before your appointment.
Plan the setup for your session
Let me know whether you’re preparing a song, a scene, or both. Share any framing, sound, accompaniment, file-format, and submission requirements so we can plan the session around them.

YOUR COACH AT THE PIANO
Hi, I’m David Jayden Anthony.
I’m a voice and acting coach, musical theatre writer, and music director—and a musical theatre nerd. I make abstract ideas tangible, so you can build a process you can repeat on your own.
My master’s degree is in Musical Theatre Writing & Production from Berklee NYC. I’m an OCSA and Young Americans alumnus and former faculty member, and have worked as a pianist for Jason Robert Brown and Stephen Schwartz.
In the studio, we connect technique to your actual song or scene. The goal is to help you understand what works, why it works, and how to find it again.

BEFORE YOU VISIT
A few practical details
Is the free first session in person?
The free introductory session is a 30-minute Zoom session with real coaching and assessment. It gives us a chance to work on your material and plan the next step, including in-person studio coaching.
Can we work on both voice and acting?
Yes. We can connect vocal technique, musical phrasing, and acting choices in the same song, or focus on a scene or audition goal.
Can I make a self-tape during my visit?
Yes—tell me what you need to record before booking. Share the audition instructions and deadline so we can confirm the setup, session length, deliverables, and price.
What should I bring?
Bring your song or scene, sheet music if we’ll work with piano, and any audition requirements. You don’t need a polished performance to begin.
