WHEN PRACTICE ISN’T TRANSLATING
You’re putting in the work. Something still isn’t connecting.
01
“Why does it fall apart in the room?”
You know your material, but pressure gets in the way of the performance you know you can give.
02
“I can do the exercise. Now what?”
The warmups make sense. Applying that freedom to an actual song still feels like a different skill.
03
“What should I actually work on?”
You want specific feedback and a clear direction, so practice feels purposeful instead of like guesswork.
TECHNIQUE THAT SERVES THE STORY
Work on the Technique.
Connect it to the story.
I listen for the specific adjustment that will help you move forward, explain it in language you can use, and explore it with you in your actual material.
Hear what needs to shift.
Identify the vocal habits and performance choices that are getting in your way.
Try it. Feel the difference.
Connect technique, lyric, musical phrasing, and intention while you work.
Leave with a direction.
Know what to practice and how it connects to the performance you want to give.
YOUR GOALS SET THE DIRECTION
What would you like to work on?
Explore a goal below. You don’t need to know exactly what you need before your first session.
General Goals
01 / SINGING GOALS (TECHNIQUE)
Releasing Your True Vocal Potential
Build a more consistent voice you can trust in your material.
How we’ll work on it
We’ll explore breath, resonance, placement, and unnecessary tension in the context of your songs. The aim is practical: clearer choices and more freedom as you sing.
02 / ACTING GOALS (PERFORMANCE)
Bringing The Story To The Forefront
Make acting choices that carry through the music.
How we’ll work on it
We’ll work with the lyric, circumstances, relationship, and musical structure to find specific, playable choices. Singing and acting develop together.
03 / AUDITIONING GOALS (ENVIRONMENT)
Choices, Preparation and Execution
Choose strong material and make your audition feel like a performance.
How we’ll work on it

MEET YOUR PRIMARY COACH
Hi, I’m David Jayden Anthony
I’m a Musical theatre Voice and Acting coach, MT Writer, Music Director, and musical theatre total musical theatre nerd. I help performers connect what they’re learning about their voice to what they want an audience to feel. It’s both complicated and simple. I will make abstract concepts as simple and tangible as possible. My goal is to create a repeatable process so that you don’t need me anymore!
My perspective comes from both sides of the material: performing it and understanding how it’s built. In a session, that means listening closely, making specific adjustments, and bringing them straight back into your song.
I earned my master’s degree in Musical Theatre Writing & Production at Berklee NYC. I’m an OCSA and Young Americans alumnus and former faculty member, and my experience includes working as a pianist for Jason Robert Brown and Stephen Schwartz.
